The Best Coffee Shops in Downtown Columbus

Whether you’re working, visiting, or living there, here are the best coffee shops in downtown Columbus!

Brioso Coffee (Gay & High Street)

Overview: Brioso is one of Columbus’ longer-running roasters, opening first in 2001. In 2020 moved their original location catty corner to the southwest corner of Gay and High. From there they continue their winning streak of great espresso, pour overs, lattes, and more. Try the Ohio maple latte!

Parable Coffee

Overview: Parable Coffee recently made the move into the beautiful corner space in the old Lazarus building, where you can find a seat amongst the lush greenery or at the coffee bar. Parable’s menu covers batch coffees, tea, pour overs, espresso, cold brew, plus one of the most unique collections of specialty lattes and other beverages.

Roosevelt Coffeehouse

Overview: The Roosevelt Coffeehouse is a favorite community gathering space. The coffee shop uses its profits to support initiatives that provide clean drinking water, fight hunger, and combat human trafficking.

Stauf’s Coffee Roasters

Overview: One of the city’s longest-running roasters, Stauf’s maintains five shops around Columbus. The Discovery District location sits in the View on Grant building, and features floor-to-ceiling windows, and plenty of space for studying, meeting, and hanging out.

Brioso Coffee (Long Street)

Overview: In addition to their Gay and High Street location, Brioso features a full coffee bar as part of its roastery on East Long Street. It’s a quiet spot to sip espresso, study or read, get some work done.

One Line Coffee

Overview: One Line Coffee, which has shops in the Short North and Franklinton, operates a small coffee bar on the ground level of the Huntington Center, on Capitol Square. It’s the ideal place for a morning or mid-day cappuccino and a snack.

Cafe de Nook

Overview: Originally starting as Hemingway’s Coffee Nook, Cafe de Nook lives up to its name as a cozy, Parisian cafe. Grab a good book and curl up in a corner with a latte and a sweet treat. Find the nook on the ground floor of the 175 on the Park building, sitting on the east side of the Columbus Commons.

Bonjour Cafe

Overview: Bonjour Cafe is a small storefront on South High Street downtown, situated between the Westin Columbus and Dempsey’s. They feature a full menu of espresso, lattes, brewed coffee, iced coffee, tea, plus build-your-own crepes and a full breakfast/lunch menu.

Morning Ritual at The Goat

Overview: The Goat is the in-house bar/restaurant/coffee shop for the Lifestyle Communities development at RiverSouth, and Morning Ritual is their coffee bar. You can order chai, a cappuccino, a mocha, you name it – to go with breakfast sandwiches, scrambles, pastries.

Freedom a la Cart

Overview: Freedom a la Cart is a social enterprise that seeks to employ and empower survivors of human trafficking. The downtown cafe is an extension of their catering business, and along with terrific scratch-made baked goods, sandwiches, and salads, they have a full menu of hot and iced coffee, espresso, and tea.

Way Down Yonder

Overview: An extension of the popular Way Down Yonder New Orleans Restaurant on the South Side, this downtown shop features scratch-made beignets and a full breakfast to go with coffee service. Grab some coffee for sure, but don’t miss a bag of giant beignets smothered in powdered sugar.

The Woodbury

Overview: The Woodbury is a modern diner in downtown Columbus, serving a very eclectic breakfast menu (chicken hotcake tacos? French toast casserole? candied bacon crepes?). On top of that, they feature a full coffee bar using Upper Cup coffee.
