It’s been a while since I’ve written about One Line Coffee (back in 2012!), especially their flagship store in Short North. We credit them with introducing us to many of our favorite coffee preparations, particularly Kyoto-style iced coffee, but also great pour overs, espresso, and cappuccinos.
One Line has expanded over the years, adding a shop in the Huntington Center on Capitol Square and in Franklinton. I’ve even been to visit their roastery in Heath, Ohio back in 2018.
But their original store always holds a dear place in our hearts, with its brick walls, central counter, glass towers for Kyoto coffee…
… and the giant wooden sign on the wall.
In our repeated visits over the years, the coffee remains excellent, from the espresso to the pour overs, the cappuccinos to specialties like the honey latte.
They also carry a variety of snacks from local bakers; we’ve seen scones and muffins to brownies and donuts.
They don’t have loads of table space, but we’ve enjoyed some mornings working there.
At each of their stores you’ll find bags of their beans, which we’ve loved using at home. One Line also supplies a number of restaurants, coffee shops, and breweries. Their collaborations with Wolf’s Ridge Brewing have been notable, especially use of their coffees in WRB’s stouts. (For a good example, seek out Night Method, a milk stout brewing with One Line’s Method espresso.)
In the past One Line has also provided handy little guides to brewing your coffee at home. Everyone I’ve encountered there has been truly interested in helping you get to know and love coffee.
We almost always end up stopping at One Line when we’re in the Short North. If you haven’t tried them, seek out one of their spaces. Short North is cozy, great for relaxing while shopping or hanging the neighborhood. Huntington is ideal for a grab-and-go coffee downtown. And Franklinton offers more space to work and relax, plus a small menu of sandwiches and like; they also transition to a bar with beer and wine in the evenings. It makes a nice stop while exploring the arts district.
