It’s another score for Columbus coffee! Roosevelt Coffeehouse has been long coming, but it’s finally open on the eastern edge of downtown. The coffee shop distinguishes itself by its location (with parking!), but also by its social mission. It exists to raise funds to support clean water projects and fight poverty and human trafficking. It’s hard to beat high quality coffee and snacks supporting goals like that.

The main part of the shop is one big room with cool floor tiles and countertops built from old bowling alley wood. The coffee bar itself uses a Modbar, a type of espresso machine that’s built below the counter, with espresso and steam taps installed on top (One Line’s Huntington location uses the same). Not only does this look cool, it opens up the space between barista and customer. Owner Kenny Sipes said this was deliberate, to make the experience more interactive.

Roosevelt’s menu should please any coffee fanatic or casual drinker. Espresso drinks, V60 pour overs, Chemex, French press. Plus Vietnamese coffee, hot chocolate, iced drinks, teas, cold brew, and lots of snacks. Coffee comes from One Line and Portland’s Stumpton.

There’s a case full of Sammy’s Bagels, cake pops, and fresh Destination Donuts.

Although Heather at Destination Donuts is opening her own location in North Market soon, she’s still supplying area coffee shops with the good stuff.

Heather even created a specialty Roosevelt Donut, topped with her dueling vanilla glaze and a cinnamon/brown sugar streusel. I can attest to its awesomeness.

Or I guess if you want to be healthy, there’s oatmeal, too.

All the coffee I’ve had at Roosevelt is excellent. Skillfully prepared, expertly served.

There’s a good amount of room at the coffee shop, and there’s a large side room with a conference table.

There’s also a little patio in front of the Long Street entrance.

Kenny and his crew have a good thing going at Roosevelt Coffeehouse. Get out there and support them. Grab a cappuccino and a donut. Hold a meeting there or study for a bit. They’re a great coffee shop with an even more important mission.
