Joya’s Cafe | Breakfast Sandwich
For this writer, Joya’s is in the running for one of the best breakfast spots in Columbus, period. Chef Avishar and his team craft meals that are flavorful and fun to eat. Nowhere is this more apparent than their seemingly simple breakfast sandwich. It’s layered with cheesy scrambled eggs, bacon, Joya’s special sauce, Joya’s creamy herb salsa, and chives on a homemade roll.

Basic Biscuits, Kindness & Coffee | Sausage, Egg, & Cheese Biscuit
True to its name, Basic Biscuits features a rotating selection of tiny biscuits (yes, with coffee and they’re very kind). They offer sweet and savory biscuits, but if it’s your first time, try the sausage, egg, and cheese, with a house-made sausage, egg, pepperjack or cheddar, on a buttermilk biscuit.

Tula Taqueria | Breakfast Torta
Tula Taqueria is a family-run Mexican spot on Lazelle and Sancus, a little south of Polaris Parkway. We haven’t had a bad thing on their menu, from the tacos and taquitos to the tortas and burritos. Breakfast items are threaded throughout the menu, including the giant breakfast torta with egg, cheese, beans, avocado, and more, including your choice of protein. We highly recommend the chorizo!

Frank & Carl’s in Bridge Park whips up some seriously good sandwiches. The shop and menu are decorated with all sorts of classic movie quotes (“I don’t KNOW, Margot.”) and the sandwiches are just as fun. If you’re in the mood for breakfast, grab the Shooter McGavin with bacon, egg, and cheese on a toasted bagel.

HoneyDip Donuts & Diner | Donut Sandwich
HoneyDip is a long-time favorite on Kenny Road. Nearly a decade ago, they expanded from just a donut shop to a full diner, and they combine both elements in the donut breakfast sandwich: two glazed donuts used as the vehicle for egg, cheese, and your choice of meat. It’s the only thing you’ll need to eat all week!
