The Sycamore is a long-running German Village favorite that’s seen some transformation over recent years. Under new ownership as of summer 2021, the neighborhood pub has been given a welcome refresh to feature lunch, dinner, drinks, and now breakfast and coffee served daily.

Part of the revamp includes a small coffee counter and window at the front, so if you’re in the neighborhood you can stop by for a cappuccino and a pastry.

The updated space retains its familiar cozy vibe with brick walls, natural light, and loads of natural wood accents.

Their coffee program uses Columbus’ Thunderkiss Coffee. You’ll find the usual drip coffee, cold brew, and espresso drinks, as well as specialties like a raspberry latte, buckwheat honey vanilla latte, or seasonal offerings.
Pictured here is the GV Capp, with espresso, half & half, buckwheat honey, and chocolate dust.

If hot drinks aren’t your jam, you can enjoy refreshing beverages like the espresso and tonic with a blood orange twist.

Breakfast is served at The Sycamore from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, and includes coffee, pastries, and a half dozen dishes.

Pastries rotate daily. We tried a chocolate Nutella croissant and blueberry scone. Both were fine. The croissant was a little bready and leaned too much into the bitter dark chocolate, and the scone was a little dry but had nice, juicy blueberries.

But the egg sandwich was a very nice entry: a small patty of scrambled egg, candied bacon, a slice of tomato, white cheddar, arugula, and a rich aioli.

Same with the avocado toast!

It layers avocado, pickled carrot, scallions, toasted sesame, and poppy seeds on multigrain. And we most definitely added the poached egg.

During their cafe service hours (7 a.m. to 3 p.m.), guests order at the counter and take a number.

In addition to the cafe hours, The Sycamore is open for dinner Monday-Thursday, 4-10 p.m. and Friday-Saturday, 4-11 p.m.
