The Goat and its companion coffee shop, Morning Ritual, is the in-house dining for Lifestyle Communities. I’ve enjoyed all the breakfasts at the RiverSouth location in downtown Columbus, and recently we got to check out The Goat’s setup in Gahanna.
The Goat is a full-service bar, restaurant, and coffee shop located in the center of the Gahanna development. It’s essentially the clubhouse for the neighborhood, with patios and a pool surrounding it. Rest assured, though, that it’s open to the public!
The Goat features two a.m. menus. The first is dubbed Morning Ritual, and features coffee, pastries, and lighter breakfast options. They offer a full espresso bar, tea, smoothies as well. You can always start with a sweet taste like the baked apple cinnamon roll.
If you want to start the day with a little spice, you can try the hot chicken biscuit, with Nashville-style fried chicken, pimento cheese, and pickles on a buttermilk biscuit.
Or the breakfast burrito with scrambled eggs, bacon, cheddar, tater tots (yes please), and a corn and black bean salsa.
Then from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. they tack on the full brunch menu from the goat, with cocktails and bigger meals. This is the Dirty Double Chai with vanilla vodka, vanilla sweet cream, iced coffee, chai, and whipped cream.
Check out the goat scramble, which blends scrambled eggs, goat cheese, spinach, roasted peppers, and a pesto aioli, served with a side of brioche toast.
One of my favorites is the huevos rancheros. They top a crispy flour tortilla with a black bean hummus, hash browns, grilled tomato, over-easy egg, avocado, avocado crema, sriracha aioli, and cilantro. It offers a nice crispy punch of flavor.
The Goat’s spacious digs include bar seats, booths, high-tops, and patio seats. Plenty of room for a big group.
The coffee counter off to the side features a wall of greenery and more seating.
And there’s an option for purchase swag or snap a selfie near the front entrance.
If you’re just in the mood for coffee on-the-go, you can walk up to the Morning Ritual window as well.
