Friday Food Bites: Dirty Frank’s and Ray Ray’s join north side, new concept from Seven Matchsticks crew

There’s always a lot happening in the Columbus restaurant world! Here’s the latest:

  • Dirty Frank’s Hot Dog Palace announced this week that they have a new carryout/delivery-only location that’s opened at 6665 Huntley Rd. in Worthington. They’re open Wednesdays-Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Orders can be place via walk-up or through DoorDash.
  • Ray Ray’s Hog Pit, which just finished a run at Flint Station, announced this week that its truck will debut today at Aardvark Wine & Beer in Linworth (2355 Dublin Granville Rd.). The truck will be open Thursdays-Sundays from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • The team behind the bygone Light of Seven Matchsticks cocktail bar teased a new concept coming soon called I Like It Like That. The bar will be open Wednesdays-Saturdays inside Natalie’s in Grandview.
  • In case you missed it, the first Ohio location of Japan-based Kura Revolving Sushi Bar will celebrate its grand opening on Sunday, Jan. 14 at 8833 Lyra Dr. near Polaris. They’re offering specials for their first two days, Jan. 14-15. Get a look at our experience at the the Pittsburgh location!
  • After a brief hiatus, SuperChef’s re-opens today with a revamped menu. The superhero-themed breakfast spot is located at 1376 Cherry Bottom Rd. in Gahanna. Get a look at SuperChef’s old downtown location.
  • North Market Bridge Park welcomed a new vendor recently. Korean BBQ 궁 opened between Hoyo’s Kitchen and On Paper in the market, serving Korean dishes like bulgogi, Korean ramen, dukboki, and gimbob.
  • The Old Bag of Nails debuted a new location in Upper Arlington this week. Originally located in the Tremont Center, the new restaurant can be found close by at 3220 Tremont Rd.
  • Jasmine Fusion Grill, which closed up its Brewery District spot a couple months ago, has reopened for takeout or delivery inside We Got Meat at 5833 Sawmill Rd. in Dublin.
  • Middle West Spirits just completed a major expansion with the opening of their distilling facility on Alum Creek Drive. The state-of-the-art, 75,000-square-foot facility multiplies their output tenfold.
  • Three central Ohio food-makers are all finalists for the 2024 Good Food Awards: North Country Charcuterie, Crimson, and Seek-No-Further Cidery. The final award winners will be announced on April 29.
  • Mardi Gras is just over a month away, but some local bakeries are already getting into the paczki game. Resch’s Bakery announced that they’ve started making them. I suggest you bookmark my list of Where To Get Paczki in Columbus; I’ll update as we get more info!
  • Speaking of bakeries, The Original Goodie Shop in Upper Arlington shared on social media that they’ll be expanding their storefront soon.
  • Bite This By Annie, a delightful home bakery that’s been popping up at local farmers markets, also teased a brick and mortar location coming this year.
  • The eatery in the lower floor of the Ohio Statehouse has reopened as the Capitol Cafe. Operated by Feed Your Soul Catering, it serves breakfast and lunch Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cafe was previously run by House Taco, which moved to South Fourth Street.
  • 614 Now shared the news that Harrison’s on Third officially closed this past weekend.
  • Tickets are now on sale for Columbus Underground’s annual Sweet Treats Dessert Festival, held on Sunday, Jan. 28 at The Turbine Hall at the Power Plant, in the Arena District.
