Even having lived in Columbus for nearly 20 years, I’m glad that there are still new-to-us things to discover. Oftentimes this means finally connecting with some of the institutions of Columbus dining. Or in this case: donuts.
While on assignment for the Dispatch, the boys and I found ourselves close by The Original Goodie Shop, also known as the Tremont Goodie Shop because of its location in the heart of Upper Arlington’s Tremont Center.
The Goodie Shop really is a hidden gem, tucked slightly off the main path in the center of the stone-walled shopping center.
But oh, what a find. You’ll know you’re in the right place once you walk in the door. The delightful smell of fresh donuts crafted in an old school bakery greets you.
You’ll get to marvel at trays and trays of goodies. And not just donuts: cookies, pastries, cakes, bread, too.
We’ve had Goodie Shop donuts before, but since this was our first time at the source, we asked the server at the counter for her suggestions.
And she clearly did not lead us astray. We took home a box of goodies that didn’t last long. My favorites were the chocolate-frosted yeast donut and the cinnamon twist.
But we don’t consider our research complete, so I think a return visit or two is in order…
