In case you missed the news, Jennings Java Coffee Roasters is on the move from their space on South Front Street in the Brewery District to a new coffee shop and roasting facility in Merion Village! While the full shop won’t be open for a couple months yet, they’ve soft opened using the rear of their space for retail and carryout coffee sales.
To find the door, just follow the sandwich board signs up South Fourth Street. There you’ll find a simple one-room setup with a small counter, cooler, and view of the gang roasting or packing coffee.
They’re always a welcoming bunch at Jennings, so expect a fun time chatting with them about coffee, the shop, everything else.
Because of their current setup, they’re offering hot drip coffee for donation only, or bottled draft coffees and snacks from Breedlove Bakery for purchase.
Their draft cold coffee line-up will rotate, but you’ll find a mix of straight-up cold brew, whiskey barrel-aged brews, matcha, and lattes. I picked up some nitro cold brew, an oak milk pumpkin latte, and a dirty chai latte. All excellent! And they’ll cap the bottles for you so you can savor them later.

Of course, you can also purchase whole bean coffee!
They have a great mix of blends in light and dark roasts, single origin coffees, even a coffee aged in High Bank Distillery Whiskey War barrels.
I love the setup of the temporary shop. It’s a terrific way to get to know Jennings Java coffees, meet the crew, and to familiarize yourself with the location. They’re hoping to have the full coffee shop up and running in the next couple months.
Their space was once home to Bake Me Happy (which moved over to Schumacher Place); they’ll shared the space with Isla, the forthcoming restaurant from Andrew Smith and Devoney Mills.
Jennings Java is currently open Wednesdays-Sundays, 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
