We've only made a couple trips to Indiana's capital city over recent years, but with its nationally recognized dining to solid breweries, to historic sites, arts districts, cultural trails, and more - the city always has us ready for a return trip.

Bazbeaux Pizza: long-running and much-loved local pizza shop with three locations
Cafe Patachou: billed as a "student union for adults," Cafe Patachou has five locations across the city
Indianapolis City Market: downtown market that includes food stalls, taproom, seasonal farmers market, and more
Love Handle: unique Mass Ave brunch spot with a menu that shifts daily. Fried skate wing and waffles? Pork belly biscuit sandwiches? Give it all a try.
Maxine's Chicken & Waffles: hidden gem with terrific chicken and waffles, plus fried fish and grits
Milktooth: award-winning brunch spot in an refurbished garage
Traders Point Creamery: a working creamery in Zionsville with an in-house restaurant, The Loft, which of course features great milkshakes. Time your visit to watch the cows getting milked!

Broad Ripple: bustling arts and cultural district on the north side of the city
Children's Museum of Indianapolis: huge interactive children's museum with all sorts of exhibitions: dinosaurs, space, sports, and more
Conner Prairie: a working farm and historical homestead (with a hot air balloon) in Fishers
Indiana War Memorial Plaza Historic District: downtown historic district with a tall memorial you can tour
Indianapolis Cultural Trail: paved and marked trail that connects eight districts across the city with pedestrian and bike paths
Indianapolis Zoo: riverfront zoo with huge aquarium spaces and a giant orangutan center
JW Marriott: stunning new hotel on the west end of downtown, overlooking the baseball stadium
Mass Ave Cultural District: running 45 degrees northeast out of downtown, Massachusetts Avenue is loaded with local restaurants, public art, entertainment, and more
White River State Park: huge riverfront park that includes walking and biking trails, the zoo, museums, an amphitheatre, and more. Fo fun, rent a bike or a surrey from the seasonal Wheel Fun Rentals.
