The East Market has seen a shift in its lineup over recent months, but there have been some great new additions. Just recently Buck City Sammies, which operated originally as a temporary pop-up, has made a permanent home in the market in the former American Nut Company stall.
As the name implies, Buck City is focused around a selection of sandwiches and sides. There’s a good mix of classics and new creations, with vegetarian options available and a breakfast one coming soon.
We were meeting someone at East Market, and while we were there, Chad Berton, one of the owners of Buck City Sammies, invited us to try a pair of sandwiches.
We were both in a pastrami mood, so it was the Paulie’s Pastrami and The Money Penny for us.
Paulie’s Pastrami is their version of the reuben: pastrami, Swiss, kraut, and a house special sauce layered on marbled rye. I love a good reuben, and this really hit the mark.
Same with the Money Penny. It takes that pastrami and layers it with sweet pickles hot peppers, and a house pimento cheese on rye.
Their stall also includes a colorful mural from Lookout Supply and a booth for enjoying your sandwiches.
Buck City Sammies is open Tuesday-Sunday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
