It’s Peanut Butter Jelly Time! Krema Nut Company Reopens Their Store for Sandwiches and Milkshakes

August 15, 2023

Krema Nut Company is a Columbus staple, producing roasted nuts, peanut butters, and other snacks since 1898. Their retail shop and factory sits on Goodale Boulevard in Grandview, hidden in plain sight amongst other light industrial spots. And while all the sweet and salty goodies are the real draw, there’s one big reason to visit their store:

PEANUT BUTTER AND JELLY SANDWICHES!

Krema has long sold PB&Js and milkshakes at their Grandview shop – we have a lot of fond memories of taking our boys there when they were younger – but the sandwich counter has been closed for months of renovations. Until now!

Krema’s adorable little sandwich counter offers 14 different concoctions or lets you build your own PB&J with your choice of nut butter and toppings. From a quick glance, you’ll see you can play it safe with classic peanut butter with strawberry preserves or grape jelly, go all-in with the sweets like marshmallow fluff or honey pecan cream cheese, or get creative with spicy peanut butter or raspberry preserves, Mike’s Hot Honey, or yes – pickles.

Whatever the form, when it comes down to it, it’s hard to beat the appeal of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

Krema’s sandwiches and milkshakes are available to-go; there’s no seating in the shop. But you can explore the full menu and order ahead at kremapickup.com.

They give you the option of white or wheat bread for your sandwich, and properly slice it on the diagonal before wrapping it in paper. Pictured here is the Classic Old Timer (peanut butter, strawberry preserves, sliced strawberries) on the left and the Kicker (hot and spicy PB with spicy raspberry jam) on the right.

Here’s a close-up of the Kicker.

The Buckeye features that favorite Ohio combination of peanut butter and chocolate… or in this case, Nutella!

The Nutty Mallow Sandwich combines house peanut butter with marshmallow fluff.

The sandwiches are served on excellent bread, sliced thick. The fillings are generously layered in, so each sandwich is substantial.

Also not to be missed are the milkshakes in flavors like chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, buckeye, peanut butter, hot and spicy, and more.

Of course, if you’re visiting Krema’s shop, it’d be rude not to look around at all the roasted nuts, candies, chocolates, and snacks.

A small window in the shop wall lets you see into the factory floor, too!

Krema’s sandwich counter is currently open Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
