We’ve been tracking Destination Donuts for a decade now, starting when we first hosted owner Heather Morris at a cooking demonstration at Wild Goose Creative in 2013, then as she operated as a pop-up in North Market before becoming a permanent stall there.
In late 2021 she closed up the market stall and moved Destination Donuts to its first stand-alone location in the heart of Clintonville, opening up there in April of 2022.
The donut shop is located in the heart of Clintonville in a commercial stretch that includes Wild Cat Gift & Party and Katalina’s, Too. The store sits in the very center of the Clintonville Farmers Market footprint.
The space relies more on carryout business, although there are a couple tables near the front windows.
Destination Donuts specializes in two types of donuts: large donut holes called “nibblers” and giant yeast-raised confections.
The flavors rotate daily, with about 6-8 different features. You’ll typically find their Dueling Vanilla, Red Raspberry Hibiscus, then other combinations of chocolate, fruits, plus cinnamon rolls.
Destination Donuts also specializes in vegan donuts. Not all of their offerings are vegan, but you’ll always find a few on the daily menu. Perfect if you prefer plant-based but still love a classic treat!
We’ve always enjoyed the offerings, typically ordering a mixed half-dozen. For yeast-raised donuts, they’re often a little sturdier in structure than, say, the glazed yeast donuts from a shop like Buckeye Donuts that melt in your mouth, but the flavors are all fun and the donuts are beautiful.
Destination Donuts is open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesdays through Sundays.
