The owners of the (rightfully) highly-acclaimed Chapman’s Eat Market have been busy this year! Following on the success of the German Village eatery, they opened Ginger Rabbit Jazz Lounge, an underground cocktail bar and music club in the Short North.
We fondly remember this space from decades ago as Curio-a-Go-Go, after which it was a church and then Kingmakers board game parlor. Now it’s been given new life as a delightful, swanky-but-approachable spot for expert cocktails, curated snacks, and local live music.
You’ll find music there six nights a week (Monday-Saturday), with a double-billing Saturday evenings.
The cocktail list is supplemented by a menu of snacks (olives, charcuterie, cheese) and conservas, or tinned and preserved fish.
This is the right amount of olives for my wife, Beth: a full bowl of them.
Ginger Rabbit offers great opportunities to see a mix of local musicians. There’s a $5 music appreciation charge per guest, added to your bill, that goes directly to the artists. You can see the full music schedule on their site.
This cocktail bar and jazz lounge is a terrific addition to the Columbus dining and live music scenes. I hope we get more places like this!
Both reservations and walk-ins are accepted. Do note that Ginger Rabbit is 21+ only.
