Over the weekend, The Galaxy Coffee debuted in front of Virtue Salon in Clintonville. Billing their truck as “the first queer-owned coffee truck in Columbus,” owners Kels Wilson and Jevonna Morris have set out to make the truck a friendly space to all.
The menu uses Upper Cup Coffee for drip coffee, pour overs, cold brew, and espresso drinks. It’s rounded out with tea, hot chocolate, lemonade, plus snacks from local bakeries like Pattycake Bakery and Happy Little Treats. Gluten free, vegan, and low carb options will always be available.
For now, Galaxy Coffee is planning to park in front of Virtue (3282 N. High St.) Thursdays through Saturdays, although it will pop up at other locations and events around the city.
In their efforts to support the community, Wilson and Morris pool tips towards a community jar that is available for the public to use in $30 increments.
A long line snaked down the block on opening day, which speaks to the community’s response to the truck. I can attest from our first visit that the iced dirty chai (a chai latte + a shot of espresso) is terrific.
