I’m always on the lookout for great coffee, and much like diners, every neighborhood across Columbus has at least one good coffee shop. In Gahanna to interview the guys from Noble Cut Distillery for Columbus Monthly, I had some time to kill and automatically gravitated to Blank Slate Coffee because a.) coffee, and b.) they’re located in an Airstream!
The owners of Blank Slate purchased the Airstream and renovated it into a mobile coffee business. They’re most regularly found on Mill Street in Gahanna’s Creekside district, although they occasionally pop up at special events. The Airstream is parked in front of an old car wash, and as you can imagine, it’s hard to miss.
It was a rainy day when I visited, so I gladly ducked inside and chatted with owner Matt while he made me a cortado. A big portion of the Airstream is dedicated to the coffee counter, the espresso machine, and their prep area.
The other section features a small counter with chairs, succulents, and lighting.
I’ve only had the cortado, but it was excellent. They feature a full menu of hot and cold coffee, espresso drinks, tea, and more. Check it out on their site.
It’s definitely worth hanging out to check out the digs, especially if you’re an Airstream enthusiast.
On nicer days they have windows to serve straight out of the trailer.
They also just started a new gallery called The Hart Room in the building behind them.
Take some time to explore it.
